It has been a busy couple of months.. Do not even get me started on all the private matters that has appeared during the last couple of months... At school we have been working on a group project in model-building and how to promote an art exhibition. It has been a challenging but fun and interesting project to work with, and I think we landed it well. There are definitely other issues and challenges appearing when working in a group compared to working alone, and the process has been both educational and frustrating at times.
The exhibition "Money or life" (works better in Norwegian - I cannot find a good translation for it..) is our answer to the assignment given, -focusing around the concepts of utopia and dystopia, and our synopsis of the exhibition would read something like this:
" Can you get too much of a good thing? In the extend that a conception of utopia turns into a dystopian reality? Could people living in what we might perceive as a dystopian reality achieve their utopia due to different values and the ability to appreciate the small but often significant joys in life? Are we not all human beings with the same needs? If we look deep into our selves, what is it that we really crave for? What do we need to feel good?
Money or life? "

"the choice" |
 |
not so much gold and luxury.. |
The idea is to show the contrasts between the rich and the poor (yes - we know it has been up earlier...) and what keeps the gap between them. In the middle room - "the choice" - you can help yourself to more wealth by stepping on the poor people on the floor and picking up money, money someone before you left for a good cause. Maybe you don't even notice you have a choice - as the walls are covered in mirrors to remind you of your selfishness...
