Drawing and learning

It is funny to suddenly discover such energy and fun! I am drawing a picture – look how nice workplace on a Monday evening:

the lable on my Yogi tea even said "Your head must bow to your heart

I am experimenting with my water color pencils, and it really works. I’m getting better by the stroke. I am actually pretty satisfied with the work so far, and there are still so many things left! It is funny to be able to testing both techniques and details in the same picture. Even the paper cut cars were very funny to cut (and the second was a lot easier than the first).

I feel I should have something about inspiration today as well. I listen to “killer 80’s” on the radio, and that certainly gives me a kick. And I definitely want a round chair in my living room!

Scandinavian Surface

Scandinavian Surface has so much to offer! I need a Scandinavian Surface wall somewhere! I have been surfing their beautiful patterns and their all-round uses. If not on my wall – I’d love some of their patterns/pictures on my – let’s say flap table, my credenza or maybe even my kitchen sink? Beautiful is the word! I find nature fascinating – like most others, and I love the mix with graphics original and manipulated pictures.

I stumbled across them while I was looking for wallpaper for my apartment, and they have really expanded since then. I ended up with some retro pieces from Wallpaper from the 70s  instead. Also very nice!
for my wardrobe and
for above my kitchen worktop

By the way! Forgot to mention I got a new baby today! The old one was ready for retirement, and my very good friend gave me this:

To keep it from scratching! Nice?!  I see my photographic skills could greatly improve, but hey! Rome wasn’t built in a day!

Darren Hopes & Spiral Studio

I cannot begin to say how grateful I am that I did manage to get in where I wanted. I will use this opportunity well, and really explore my way around different expressions of art and design. If you would like to read more about the education you can use this link: Faculty of Art, Design and Drama.

I am really looking forward to all of it if I may say so, but I am really eager to learn more about using drawing and picture manipulation software. I am (per today that is) not good at drawing, but I think that my slight handicap on that area can be counterbalanced by using computer tools.  And making things – real things – in the workshops? Having a lot of tools and help to really let my ideas become real physical objects? It’s going to be great!

Probably a bit of the reason why I currently am so interested in ICT is one of my favorite artists at the time being, Darren Hopes. I fell in love with his pictures when I was searching for pictures to have over my sofa. Later I also found the Spiral Studio works. Taking it another hunch further, the Spiral Studio works is giving the picture a stronger feeling behind it, but it would not that well suite my living room wall I believe. I love them both (being the same and all..).

Here is how it suites my living room wall:

What this blog is about:

Getting started on a new career is very motivating and a bit scary at the same time. My levels of energy have risen to new levels, and my creativity is grasping the surface. To help me learn and experience all the mysteries of Art and Design, I decided to start this blog. Blogging about my inspirations and what moves me, and also being able to receive comments from others on this, can be an important piece of my learning process.

So – what can you expect to find on this blog? A difficult question to answer at this time, but I can at least promise it will be “from the heart”. Art pieces, design, tests and my learning will be the main focus, but I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t add some feelings and day to day experiences as well.
